The Cellini (Cameo) Factory is located in Pompei, less than half an hour from the Napoli central train station. The shortage of coral and master artists has placed a premium on the diminishing supply of delicately designed coral necklaces and cameos carved from sea shells.

The Cellini (Cameo) Factory in Pompei is a "must stop" when visiting Italy. The shortage of coral and master artists has placed a premium on the diminishing supply of delicately designed coral necklaces and cameos carved from sea shells. The Cellini girls do an excellent job in comparing the workmanship between various cameos.  Zayra recommends purchasing cameos designed by "masters" rather than their students. Cameos designed by "masters" do cost significantly more,  but they show more creativity and detail. She projects that quality cameos designed by today's "masters" should appreciate significantly in value given the supply and international demand situation. (It is only a matter of time when hand-designed cameos by masters will become a lost art.)

The Cellini (Cameo) Factory is located in Pompei, less than half an hour from the Napoli central train station. When starting from Roma, take an express train from the Roma main terminal to Napoli and make arrangements in advance to be picked up at the Napoli central train station.  The train ride to Napoli and car ride to Pompei are memorable with views of Mount Vesuvius and churches on one side and German World War II bunkers on the other. The Napoli train station area is crime-ridden and Zayra highly recommends that advance arrangements be made with a reliable guide before "dropping in on Napoli".
