reflected in the staggering volume of bilateral trade--the
equivalent of $1.4 billion a day in goods, services, and
investment income--as well as in people-to-people contact. There
are well over 100 million crossings of the U.S.-Canadian border
every year. Since January 23, 2007, all U.S. citizens traveling
by air to and from Canada must have a valid passport to enter or
re-enter the United States. U.S. citizens traveling between the
United States and Canada by land or sea (including ferries) may
be required to present a valid passport or other documents as
determined by the Department of Homeland Security as early as
January 1, 2008. |
