Zayra's 400+ .COM An important message by Zayra (The Lotto World Directory)
The best way to force U.S. television networks and National Public Radio (NPR) to provide the public with responsible and non-offensive programming is to allow the free marketplace to work in America as intended. The Charlie Sheen CBS saga and the "Tiger Woods" marketing fiasco demonstrates this point best. It shows what advertisers on Madison Avenue (The "Mad Men") and television networks have known for half a century and what sponsors on television hope that the public does not know. Nike and Tiger Woods, for example, are already tied together in multi-million dollar advertising ventures. Nike is backing Tiger Woods and has counted on "golf" being more important than "marital infidelity". On the other hand, Accenture, Gatorade, Gillette, and other sponsors have dropped Tiger Woods from their marketing campaigns. This may say something about values and "role models" in our society in the 21st Century depending on your own point of view. At the very least the "Tiger Woods fiasco" and the Charlie Sheen saga are probably worth a sociological study in some university "101" class, but in the end, however, the Free Marketplace will prevail. The firing of National Public Radio (NPR) contributor Juan Williams in October 2010 showed that NPR, which is also supported by American tax dollars, demonstrated that its political agenda does not provide balance. Other NPR contributors have committed worse offenses than Juan Williams for commenting on situations and facts that were "politically correct" or "politically incorrect", depending on one's point of view. Sponsors of NPR have a vested interest in how NPR deals with "fair play" and freedom of speech issues protected by the U.S. Constitution. Viewers and listeners have a vested interest in making sure that the "Fourth Estate", the eyes and ears of the American people, function as intended by the framers of the U.S. Constitution. How can society really deal with irresponsible television and radio programming? Legislating restrictions on free speech or expression violates the U.S. Constitution and is not the answer. Discriminating because of race, color, national origin, sexual preference, etc., violates the law and is also not the solution. However, the American public certainly has the right to notify the sponsors of offensive material that supporting television network programming or policies that are clearly offensive (and, supporting non-balanced and unfair coverage of political and world events) has consequences. The consequences can include an organized internet campaign to boycott sponsors of offensive programming and policies. Americans have the right to freely and independently express their own opinions and views using their own home computers. Money talks. No television or radio network or sponsor of offensive programs will continue to follow a course of action that could ultimately lead to its demise. Organizations, mavericks, and
activists that wish to pursue the above concept for cleaning up television
and radio network programming in the United States should examine the package that is
being offered below. Their success will be directly proportional to the
creativity, energy, and time that they wish to invest in the development of web
sites using the domain names below. The following domain names are being offered
as a package only.
America is already experiencing the consequences of greed and irresponsible behavior by top executives in major corporations, banking institutions, "Wall Street" and a corrupt political bureaucracy both in Washington and in each state's capital. When she became a naturalized United States citizen, Zayra learned that when Ben Franklin, one of America's founders, was asked :"What have you given us?" his reply was, "A Republic if you can keep it!" She has always remembered that the strength (and weakness) of the American Democracy depends on the character and will of its own people. "Zayra of USA" was born in Costa Rica and loves the United States. She is offering concerned Americans the opportunity to create a better society by taking an interest in what American television networks offer the public on a daily basis and doing something about it if television programming content is deemed to be unacceptable. It is recommended that the above domain names be used legally and creatively in one or more web sites so that Americans also have the opportunity to compliment sponsors when they sponsor programs of high quality. The "carrot and stick" approach will work when sponsors can see positive responses to quality programs and policies, and negative responses to unacceptable programs and policies, especially when they have given millions of dollars to advertising agencies (The "Mad Men") and television networks to promote their products. An example of unacceptable
television programming would be pure pornography under the guise of "adult
entertainment." Other examples of unacceptable television programming are the
use of foul language or unbalanced and unfair news coverage. Hopefully, the
developers of the above domain names will stay focused on the objective of
improving the quality of television programming rather than trying to destroy a
sponsor or network; success is assured if the former approach is used and
failure is guaranteed with possible legal complications if the latter approach
is adopted.
